Welcome to WordCamp Asia

Greeting from Tokyo and Bangkok! This is Naoko, Global Lead Organizer, and Nok, Local Lead Organizer of WordCamp Asia 2020.

Asia is the largest and most populous continent; there is a total of 127 WordPress Meetup Chapters across 23 countries, with over 73,000 members. There had been 137 WordCamps in 18 Asian countries and 52 cities.

That sounds great, but we hope that this first flagship event in the region can help the WordPress and open source community to grow even further. We are really excited to be working on creating a place where community members can learn from and get inspired by each other.

Our Vision

We have refined some key concepts that we want this event to embody.

Welcoming: Make it an inclusive, affordable, and interactive event.
Nurturing: Celebrate and support the growth of sustainable communities.
Experimental: Don’t be afraid to try new things, and learn from doing.

Our Team

WordCamp Asia organizing team consists of 40 volunteers. We are developers, designers, directors, entrepreneurs, and users from 16 countries.

Very occasionally, some of the team have a chance to meet in person, but almost all team communications are done online. We will be getting together for the first time right before the event.
